Listen to past episodesThe Tenth Voice is the Kansas City area’s only weekly broadcast created by and for LGBTQIA+ people in our community in the Greater Kansas City area and around the world online. Listeners can tune in each Saturday at 1:00 PM. Each week our team of hosts and producers present interviews, information, music, news and features especially important to Lesbians, Gay Men, Bisexuals, Transgender & Nonbinary people, Queer, Intersex, Asexual & Aromantic people and Allied collective communities. Since 1989, The Tenth Voice radio show has documented and informed the LGBTQIA+ Kansas City Community.
The name of the show comes from the early Dr. Kinsey sex studies where he determined that 1 in 10 people are homosexual. That number has changed over time but just like the historic Stonewall name, we are keeping ours for the same reason.
First Saturdays’ host is Daddy Rae with Grey Matters
Second Saturdays’ hosts are Fiona & Una Nowling, for The Rainbow Kotatsu
Third Saturdays’ host is Michael Grayman-Parkhurst with Show People.
Fourth Saturdays’ (Trans Talk episode) hosts are Una & Fiona Nowling.
Fifth Saturdays’ host is Starla Carr.
The monthly Trans Talk segment of The Tenth Voice radio took home the Alliance for Community Media Foundation’s Hometown Media Awards’ ‘Best Of Underserved Voices – Community Radio’ 2021 award for their episode featuring an interview with Stephanie Byers, who made history twice last December by becoming Kansas’s first transgender person elected to the Kansas State Legislature as well as the first Indigenous trans person elected to any state legislature.
